6 REASONS TO CHOOSE THE YETI

1: ROOM WITH A VIEW

The electrically sliding front panel of the optional panoramic sunroof provides a sense of space and freedom. The front section can also be tipped for interior ventilation. At the touch of a button, a blind covers the whole of the panoramic sunroof, preventing the interior from overheating on hot summer days.

2: SUV GOES GREEN

The ŠKODA Yeti engines offer a dynamic performance, combined with meagre fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions of 140 g/km as per ADR 81/02 for 1.2TSI 77kw manual 4x2.

3: DESIGN OF THE NEW YETI

The distinctive charm of the Yeti’s appearance has taken on a new dimension following its facelift to reflect ŠKODA’s evolving design ethos.

The clean shapes of the headlights showcase classic style and below the distinctive grille, the bumper is dominated by a wide air intake rounded off with a sleek spoiler. The rear section is characterised by the angular design of the number plate area.

The design reflects the environment in which the vehicle will be found most often. The Yeti gives the sleek impression of an urban crossover-type SUV with most of the visible elements, such as side mouldings, door sills and the lower parts of both bumpers, painted in the body colour.

4: FLEXIBLE INTERIOR SOLUTIONS

The three rear seats offer variable layouts. Each can be arranged separately and the angle of each backrest is adjustable.

The outer seats can slide backwards and forwards.

The middle seat can be removed and the outer seats can be moved towards the centre, creating exceptional amounts of extra room for two rear passengers.

The luggage compartment fixing system (as standard in Ambition) with horizontal strips and sliding hooks offers multiple arrangement options, perfect for hanging shopping bags, large luggage or securing small items.

5: SAFETY IS NOT JUST A FEELING

Recognised by ANCAP with the award of five stars, the Yeti sets the standard for safety.

The Yeti is equipped with a rear-view camera which monitors the space behind the car and indicates the driving lines, based on the vehicle width for safe and easy parking.

Furthermore, seven airbags protect passengers in the front and rear seats and the Yeti uses bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and curve lighting (included in the Tech Pack). These are better at illuminating bends and help the driver to detect hazards more quickly.

The drive assists (Electronic Stability Control - ESC, Anti-lock Braking System – ABS, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution - EBD, Anti-Slip Regulation - ASR and Electronic Differential Lock - EDL) improve the handling of the vehicle in extreme situations.

The brake lights flash during heavy braking and the warning lights are then automatically deployed, providing an urgent warning to the car behind and reducing the risk of rear impact.

6: SEE REARWARDS

Parking is made even easier with the new rear-view camera which comes as a standard across the range. Located in the handle of the tailgate, it displays the area behind the vehicle and shows a line of travel the width of the vehicle.

Drivers who find it hard to accurately judge the length of a parking space will greatly appreciate the second generation Automatic Parking Assist (included in the Tech Pack). It also helps the driver to manoeuvre the car into the parking space itself.

After a simple press of a button the Automatic Parking Assist is able to find a large enough gap between parked cars. When a suitable gap (the length of the car plus 60 cm) is found, the car asks the driver to shift into reverse and then parks almost by itself.

The car’s electronics turn the steering wheel, while the driver adjusts the speed using the pedals. The Automatic Parking Assist communicates with the driver through voice instructions and symbols on the multifunctional display.

Exterior Design for Urban Jungle

It’s clear, at first glance, that the Yeti is an SUV designed for everyday use. Commanding respect in the urban jungle, the dynamic shapes and elegant styling of the Yeti ensure it’s easily recognised for all the right reasons.

YETI WITH TWO-TONE BODY

Seven colour options allow you to design your Yeti your way. The distinguished styling of a contrasting white or black roof is an option available for the Ambition with selected colours.

SUV REDEFINED BY ŠKODA

The distinctive charm of the Yeti’s appearance has taken on a new dimension following its facelift to reflect ŠKODA’s evolving design ethos. The design reflects the environment in which the vehicle will be found most often. The Yeti gives the sleek impression of an urban crossover-type SUV with most of the visible elements, such as side mouldings, door sills and the lower parts of both bumpers, painted in the body colour.

FACE TO FACE WITH THE YETI

The new front has horizontal features, a distinctive grille and redesigned headlights. Better still bi-xenon headlights and for the first time integrated LED daytime running lights are available as part of the Tech Pack. The clean shapes of the headlights command respect and provide the Yeti with classical style. The bumper is dominated by a wide air intake rounded off with a sleek spoiler. The front fog lights (as standard in Ambition) are now rectangular and located further under the front bumpers.

FAMILIAR YET NEW TAIL

The Yeti’s new rear also has a new layout, including a new tailgate shape with distinctive rear lights now in an even more precisely moulded C design, available as an optional extra or as part of the Tech Pack as LEDs; and in line with the new ŠKODA look, two triangular elements alongside the new ŠKODA logo. Last but not least, the Yeti is ŠKODA’s first model with rear-view camera, which comes as standard across the range.

Space redefined by ŠKODA

The ample room available in the interior and luggage space is a major feature of ŠKODA cars. The Yeti is no exception, and is able to carry up to five people with ease. With interior width of 1,437 mm and plenty of legroom in the rear seats, the car allows four adults to travel in comfort even on long journeys. The standard 321-litre luggage compartment volume can be expanded to an incredible 1,665 litres with the rear seats removed.

VarioFlex

Incredible flexibility allows you to change the capacity of the ŠKODA Yeti boot, and at the same time easily remove the back seats to enlarge the Yeti into the size of a small van.

The VarioFlex system consists of three separate rear seats that can be independently manipulated and removed. The side seats of the Yeti can be moved sideways. After removal of the middle seat you can move the seats into the centre of the car, creating an extremely roomy and comfortable environment for the two rear passengers.

In addition, the backrests of all three seats can be folded all the way down. After that the entire seats can be folded in such a manner that they cover up to the front seats (and attach to the head rests by small hooks). In this position the seats are also retractable.

SIMPLY CLEVER STORAGES

Simply Clever design across the interior of the Yeti provides many places for storing various sundry items. The centre console is equipped with two cup holders, practical pockets in the front doors can hold 1-litre bottles, the overhead console is equipped with a sunglasses holder (available in Ambition), and a box under the front arm rest is located between the front seats.

Further storage is available in a storage box in the upper part of the dashboard, covered with a lid from the Ambition trim level upwards. The rear passengers can use door pockets, able to hold 0.5-litre bottles.

A helpful table is fitted on the back of the middle, rear seat which passengers can use when the middle seat is folded down. In the luggage compartment, there are pockets behind the wheel wells, folding hooks and other useful features.

LUGGAGE SPACE

The standard luggage compartment volume of 321 litres can be increased to 1,665 litres by removing the rear seats.

Inside the boot, the light, hooks to secure shopping bags, luggage compartment tray and 12V socket are all part of standard equipment.

As is a net system in order to fastening down luggage and with the Ambition model a removable LED torch.

VEHICLE SPACE OVERVIEW

All the seats in the Yeti are comfortably firm. The front seats have exaggerated side sculpting that reliably holds the driver and passenger in place when cornering.

The outer rear seats are also ergonomically designed for the maximum comfort of the two passengers. If necessary, however, enough space can be found in the back for three people to travel in comfort.

BOOT

The luggage compartment of the ŠKODA Yeti exceeds expectations thanks to increased practicality and utility. Easy access and flexibility ensure you can fit more into every day and every journey. And if you need more space, you can also remove the rear seats, increasing the boot size to 1,665 litres.

DIMENSIONS

In no other compact SUV do the rear passengers have as much headroom as in the ŠKODA Yeti – 1,027 millimetres.

The boot capacity is at least 321 litres. Pushing all the rear seats forward increases the volume up to 1,485 litres, and taking all the rear seats out increases it to a fantastic 1,665 litres.

Comfort features

ŠKODA’s goal has always been to make driving a car as pleasurable, safe and comfortable as possible. To this end, the Yeti provides a series of electric and electronic features: from touchscreen navigation to smart air conditioning.

12-SPEAKER SOUND SYSTEM

The powerful ŠKODA Sound System (included in the Tech Pack) uses twelve speakers, three in each door of the vehicle.

Perfect sound is achieved with an external amplifier with sound processor.

The system also offers a wide range of settings thanks to a digital equalizer and switching between three modes of 3D sound optimisation.

MULTIMEDIA-DEVICE INTERFACE (MDI)

MDI allows you to easily play music from an external device (MP3 player, mobile phone) in your car. The connected device is controlled via ŠKODA radio or navigation system.

Information about the currently playing track is shown on the radio/navigation system display, and also on the multifunctional display in front of the driver. Connecting cables with the iPod, iPhone, mini USB, USB or Aux-in (3,5mm jack) are available from ŠKODA Genuine Accessories.

SECOND-GENERATION AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST

Drivers in urban areas will appreciate the Automatic Parking Assist (included in the Tech Pack). After a simple press of a button, a car is able to find a large enough gap between parked cars. The car’s electronics turn the steering wheel, while the driver adjusts the speed using the pedals.

Parking is made even easier by the rear-view camera in the handle of the tailgate (standard across the range) which displays the area behind the vehicle and features a line of travel the width of the vehicle.

CLIMATRONIC DUAL-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL

The electronically controlled ŠKODA Climatronic climate control (as standard in Ambition) lets you enjoy the comfort of automatically maintained temperature in the Yeti. The Climatronic has two zones, so the driver and passengers can set their own temperatures.

It uses sensors and mechanisms to gauge and adjust the temperature by manipulating both the speed and direction of air flowing into the cabin. It is also able to compensate for the sun radiation by more intensive cooling, so the driver does not have to change the temperature settings manually.

Images are for illustrative purposes and include overseas models that may include features that are not available in Australia. Colours may appear different on screen. For the ŠKODA product of your choice, your ŠKODA dealer will happily provide you with the latest information, up-to-date specifications and details on availability.

Innovative Technology

The new ŠKODA Yeti models will be the first to come with a rear-view parking camera. It will also feature the automatic lock and start function ‘KESSY’ as standard, as well as the latest generation of the automatic Park Assist system (included in the Tech Pack) – simply press a button and the system will begin searching for a parking space in a line of cars or obstacles.

ENGINES

Modern turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection – petrol TSI and diesel TDI units – achieve lower fuel consumption and emissions while retaining the driving dynamics.

Thanks to the turbocharging, they have ample power in low rpm, where the engine is used for most of the time. In the lower rpm range, the engine is also quieter and features lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Direct fuel injection enhances the efficiency of burning fuel and contributes to lower fuel consumption and thereby to lower CO2 emissions.

REAR-VIEW CAMERA

Enjoy easy parking with the rear-view camera, as standard across the range. It is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged.

Combined exclusively with the standard Amundsen radio-unit and Columbus navigation (included in the Tech Pack), the system uses their displays to show the space behind the car and to indicate the driving line, based on the vehicle width.

The camera is always supplied with parking sensors and can be combined with the second-generation Automatic Parking Assist (included in the Tech Pack).

FREEDOM IS BEING KEYLESS

Want to lock or unlock the door, start or stop the engine, all without using a single key? Introducing KESSY (Keyless Entry Start and Exit System) available as standard across the range.

The driver is still required to carry the key to the vehicle with them, but only needs to operate the door handle or the hatch of the boot and the vehicle will unlock automatically.

Starting the car is completed in a push of a button, located on the right of the steering wheel.

Performance

The ŠKODA Yeti is equipped for every contingency. It is a reliable partner on any road wet or dry. More than that, the ŠKODA Yeti also provides enhanced driving performance on unpaved streets and gravel. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures shown below for both the Yeti and Yeti 4x4 Outdoor are combined figures as per ADR 81/02.

5 star ANCAP

The ŠKODA Yeti delivers safety without compromise. This compact SUV was awarded five stars by ANCAP for its exemplary safety features.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

ESC or Electronic Stability Control, in all Yeti models, helps every driver handle critical situations by detecting and reducing loss of traction (skidding).

The stability program uses the capabilities of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and other special sensors to prevent slipping or locking the wheels. The principle of its function is limiting the engine torque; and braking the inner rear wheel in case of understeer, or outer front wheel in case of oversteer.

ESC provides significant help to the driver, but it still can’t overcome the laws of nature. The ESC will help the driver if the limits of grip are not exceeded on the wheels used to stabilise the vehicle.

ISOFIX ANCHORING POINTS

Isofix anchoring points on the rear seats ensure better mounting of the seats in the vehicle. This is important for enhanced safety in case of a crash.

Further anchoring points in the luggage compartment can be used for fixing the child seat by the Top Tether system, which reduces the rotational movement of the child seat around the anchoring points’ axis. In case of an accident, this helps to slow down the child’s forward movement. Top Tether is supplementary to the Isofix system.

Overseas model shown, the shown interior is not available in Australia

FLASHING BRAKE LIGHTS

When braking hard from speeds above 60km/h, the brake lights start flashing automatically. After the Yeti becomes stationary, the brake lights stop flashing and hazard lights are switched on. After taking off again, the hazard lights are switched off automatically.

This measure reduces the risk of rear-end impact, especially when approaching the traffic jams on highways or sudden braking in front of the unexpected obstacle.

AIRBAGS

The airbags act to prevent the contact of the occupant’s body with the rigid components of the vehicle.

The new ŠKODA Yeti is equipped with seven airbags, including; driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, curtain airbags - front and rear and a knee airbag for the driver.

RIGID BODY STRUCTURE

High quality, rigid body structure is the essence of safety in all types of crashes. To achieve high durability of the monocoque, extremely strong materials were used, especially around the passenger area, where only minimal deformations are allowed.

The engine mounts are designed to prevent intrusion of the engine in the passenger area upon even heavier impacts. Other parts of the interior are also designed in a way to protect the driver and passengers in the case of an accident.

OTHER SAFETY FEATURES

The ŠKODA Yeti is about safety without compromise and has been awarded five stars by ANCAP for its exemplary safety features. Added to the above mentioned safety systems, the following features are available as standard:

  • ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) keeps the wheels from locking during emergency braking or when braking on slippery surfaces.
  • By increasing the braking pressure, the Brake Assist helps drivers in situations in which emergency braking is necessary. This can lead to a significant reduction in required braking distance.
  • The hill-hold control assist helps drivers start uphill safely. The system activates itself on inclines of five percent or more and ensures easy and safe uphill starting without the use of the hand brake. The system keeps the car from rolling backwards or stalling.
  • The ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) ensures smooth starting and acceleration without the wheels spinning on slippery surfaces.

ELECTRONIC DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (EDL)

On roads with different surfaces on each side, for example dry tarmac on one side and dirt or gravel on the other, the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) enhances safety and performance.

An electronic control unit (ECU) continually receives data from ABS wheel speed sensors on the driven wheels.

If the ECU detects that one wheel is slipping, it applies the brake pressure to match its speed to the second, non-slipping wheel.

This also directs the torque to the wheel with better traction, which is able to transfer more power.

The EDL advantages are most obvious during acceleration or driving up the hill with low traction under one of the driven wheels.

Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and dynamic angle control

Bi-xenon headlights (included in the Tech Pack) with daytime running lights use projector modules with a xenon discharge tube for both low and high beam headlights. Low and high beams are switched by moving a shield in the projector module. Both low and high beams can swivel into turns.

The swiveling mechanism is controlled electronically to optimally illuminate the corner. Headlights swivel into the corner at an angle of up to 15° (inner), or 7.5° (outer) from their straight-ahead position.

The LED module of the daytime running lights (forming a strip on the bottom edge of the headlamp) not only has a longer life and lower power consumption, but also creates an elegant crystalline-design shape at the front of the car.

The diagrams featured (based on an overseas left-hand driven model) illustrate how the lights operate under different driving circumstances.
