6 REASONS TO CHOOSE THE YETI OUTDOOR

1: READY FOR EVERY SURFACE

With its intelligent all wheel drive, the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor is equipped for all conditions. A finely tuned drivetrain with a 5th-generation Haldex clutch deals with even the slightest change under Yeti 4x4 Outdoor's wheels within milliseconds.

Under normal conditions, the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor is like regular front-wheeler. In snow or mud it turns into a 4x4 without you noticing it. Or, with a simple press of the dashboard-mounted Off-Road button, the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor switches specific assistance systems to a special off-road setting.

Once engaged, the accelerator responds more sensitively when pulling away on loose surfaces, while the Auto Hold feature helps the vehicle out in tricky situations. The Hill Descent Control uses sensitive braking to maintain a constant speed descending steep slopes, regardless of whether the vehicle is in any of the gears from one to three, reverse, or neutral.

All available in the Off-road Pack.

2: SAFETY IS NOT JUST A FEELING

Recognised by ANCAP with the award of five stars, the Yeti sets the standard for safety.

The Yeti is equipped with a rear-view camera which monitors the space behind the car and indicates the driving lines, based on the vehicle width for safe and easy parking.

Furthermore, seven airbags protect passengers in the front and rear seats and the Yeti uses bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and curve lighting (included in the Tech Pack). These are better at illuminating bends and help the driver to detect hazards more quickly.

The drive assists (Electronic Stability Control - ESC, Anti-lock Braking System – ABS, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution - EBD, Anti-Slip Regulation - ASR and Electronic Differential Lock - EDL) improve the handling of the vehicle in extreme situations. The brake lights flash during heavy braking and the warning lights are then automatically deployed, providing an urgent warning to the car behind and reducing the risk of rear impact.

3: DESIGN OF THE YETI OUTDOOR

The Yeti 4x4 Outdoor, like any true off-road vehicle, has a rugged look and exudes both strength and agility. ŠKODA’s evolving design ethos is reflected in the front of the Yeti, dominated by the angular headlights and the fog lamps in the corners of the bumper. Together, they form the hallmark “four-leaf clover” lighting arrangement.

The front section features an over-sized front bumper with a striking silver skid plate in the middle. Another eye-catching feature at the rear of the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor is the area around the number plate, where the body is moulded into triangular sections.

The Yeti 4x4 Outdoor’s side protection mouldings, door sills and both bumpers are black, clearly expressing their protective and design function. An additional stylish characteristic is the silver-painted side mirrors.

4: THE PERFECT VIEW OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The electrically sliding front panel of the optional panoramic sunroof provides a sense of space and freedom. The front section can also be tipped for interior ventilation. At the touch of a button, a blind covers the whole of the panoramic sunroof, preventing the interior from overheating on hot summer days.

5: TURBOCHARGED ENGINE

The ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor has an impressive 2.0 litre 103TDI DSG four-cylinder inline turbocharged diesel engine, with high pressure direct injection.

6: FLEXIBLE INTERIOR SOLUTIONS

The three separate rear seats offer variable layouts. Each can be arranged separately and the angle of each backrest is adjustable. The outer seats can slide backwards and forwards.

The middle seat can be removed and the outer seats can be moved towards the centre, creating exceptional amounts of extra room for two rear passengers.

The luggage compartment fixing system with horizontal strips and adjustable hooks offer multiple arrangement options, perfect for hanging shopping bags, large luggage or securing small items.

Exterior Design for Off-Road Temptations

The Outdoor version of the Yeti has a rugged feel - the over-sized front bumper and black-painted body parts leave no one in any doubt that it is an off-road car.

FAMILIAR YET NEW TAIL

The Yeti 4x4 Outdoor’s new rear also has a new layout, including a new tailgate shape with distinctive rear lights now in an even more precisely moulded C design, optionally available as LEDs; and, in line with the new ŠKODA look, two triangular elements alongside the new logo. Last but not least the new Yeti is ŠKODA’s first model to include a rear-view camera as standard across the range.

YETI 4x4 OUTDOOR WITH TWO-TONE BODY

Seven colour options allow you to design your Yeti your way. The distinguished styling of a contrasting white or black roof is also an option available for selected colours.

The centre console is equipped with two cup holders, practical pockets in the front doors can hold 1-litre bottles, the overhead console is equipped with a sunglasses holder, and a box under the front arm rest is located between the front seats.

Further storage is available in a storage box in the upper part of the dashboard.

The rear passengers can use door pockets, able to hold 0.5-litre bottles. Folding tables are available on the rear side of the front seats, along with other practical solutions.

In the luggage compartment, there are pockets behind the wheel wells, folding hooks and other useful features.

BOOT

The luggage compatment of ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor excels with its practicality and great utility, with easy access being a given thing as well. And if you need more space, you can also remove the rear seats, increasing the boot size to 1,665 litres.

DIMENSIONS

In no other compact SUV do the rear passengers have as much headroom as in the ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor – 1,027 millimetres. The boot capacity is at least 321 litres.

5 star ANCAP

The ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor delivers safety without compromise. This compact SUV was awarded five stars by ANCAP for its exemplary safety features.

INTELLIGENT ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

The 4x4 drive is delivered by the 5th generation Haldex coupling, which automatically engages the rear wheel drive to guarantee the optimal transmission of power to the road. This is controlled by the Haldex Electronic Control Unit (ECU), based on the data from the engine, ABS/ESC sensors and steering wheel angle sensor.

The all wheel drive is fully compatible with the electronic stability systems (ABS, ESC) and continually modulates the torque sent to the rear wheels.

During acceleration, the rear wheels are most effective at transferring power, so the Haldex coupling transfers as much torque as possible to the rear wheels.

On the other hand, when driving at higher speeds, the rear wheel is engaged only when necessary. In case of ESC intervention, the control of the Haldex coupling is taken over by the ABS/ESC control unit. There is no need to transfer the torque to the rear wheels while braking, so the coupling is disengaged.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)

ESC or Electronic Stability Control, in all Yeti models, helps every driver handle critical situations by detecting and reducing loss of traction (skidding).

The stability program uses the capabilities of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and other special sensors to prevent slipping or locking the wheels. The principle of its function is limiting the engine torque; and braking the inner rear wheel in case of understeer, or outer front wheel in case of oversteer.

ESC provides significant help to the driver, but it still can’t overcome the laws of nature. The ESC will help the driver if the limits of grip are not exceeded on the wheels used to stabilise the vehicle.

ISOFIX ANCHORING POINTS

Isofix anchoring points on the rear seats ensure better mounting of the seats in the vehicle. This is important for enhanced safety in case of a crash.

Further anchoring points in the luggage compartment can be used for fixing the child seat by the Top Tether system, which reduces the rotational movement of the child seat around the anchoring points’ axis. In case of an accident, this helps to slow down the child’s forward movement. Top Tether is supplementary to the Isofix system.

Overseas model shown, the shown interior is not available in Australia

FLASHING BRAKE LIGHTS

When braking hard from speeds above 60km/h, the brake lights start flashing automatically. After the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor becomes stationary, the brake lights stop flashing and hazard lights are switched on. After taking off again, the hazard lights are switched off automatically.

This measure reduces the risk of rear-end impact, especially when approaching the traffic jams on highways or sudden braking in front of the unexpected obstacle.

AIRBAGS

The airbags act to prevent the contact of the occupant’s body with the rigid components of the vehicle. The ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor is equipped with seven airbags, including; driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, curtain airbags - front and rear and a knee airbag for the driver.

RIGID BODY STRUCTURE

High quality, rigid body structure is the essence of safety in all types of crashes. To achieve high durability of the monocoque, extremely strong materials were used, especially around the passenger area, where only minimal deformations are allowed.

The engine mounts are designed to prevent intrusion of the engine in the passenger area upon even heavier impacts. Other parts of the interior are also designed in a way to protect the driver and passengers in the case of an accident.

OTHER SAFETY FEATURES

The ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor is about safety without compromise and has been awarded five stars by ANCAP for its exemplary safety features. In addition to the above mentioned safety systems, the following features are available as standard or optional extras for the Yeti 4x4 Outdoor:

  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) keeps the wheels from locking during emergency braking or when braking on slippery surfaces.
  • MSR counters the locking action of the driving wheels which can occur when the driver decelerates on a smooth surface.
  • By increasing the braking pressure, the braking assistant helps drivers in situations in which emergency braking is necessary. This can lead to a significant reduction in required braking distance.
  • The Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) ensures smooth starting and acceleration without the wheels spinning on slippery surfaces.
  • The hill-hold control assist helps drivers start uphill safely. The system activates itself on inclines of five percent or more and ensures easy and safe uphill starting without the use of the hand brake. The system keeps the car from rolling backwards or stalling.
  • ŠKODA Yeti 4x4 Outdoor downhill assist uses engine-braking to enable safe and controlled downhill driving. The downhill assist easily and safely manages extreme downhill sections by keeping the driving speed at a constant rate, thus assisting the driver.

ELECTRONIC DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (EDL)

On roads with different surfaces on each side, for example dry tarmac on one side and dirt or gravel on the other, the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) enhances safety and performance.

An electronic control unit (ECU) continually receives data from ABS wheel speed sensors on the driven wheels.

If the ECU detects that one wheel is slipping, it applies the brake pressure to match its speed to the second, non-slipping wheel.

This also directs the torque to the wheel with better traction, which is able to transfer more power.

The EDL advantages are most obvious during acceleration or driving up the hill with low traction under one of the driven wheels.

Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and dynamic angle control

Bi-xenon headlights (included in the Tech Pack) with daytime running lights use projector modules with a xenon discharge tube for both low and high beam headlights. Low and high beams are switched by moving a shield in the projector module. Both low and high beams can swivel into turns.

The swiveling mechanism is controlled electronically to optimally illuminate the corner. Headlights swivel into the corner at an angle of up to 15° (inner), or 7.5° (outer) from their straight-ahead position.

The LED module of the daytime running lights (forming a strip on the bottom edge of the headlamp) not only has a longer life and lower power consumption, but also creates an elegant crystalline-design shape at the front of the car.

The diagrams featured (based on an overseas left-hand driven model) illustrate how the lights operate under different driving circumstances.
