6 REASONS TO CHOOSE THE SUPERB

1: AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST

The Automatic Parking Assist (as standard in the Elegance model) is the next generation of parking intelligence and brings a new level of comfort and convenience to your day-to-day driving.

When you need to park your car in a parallel or perpendicular spot, the car will help you locate a suitable parking space while you’re driving.

To parallel park your car, you just need to find a parking spot with 30cm in front of your car and 30cm behind it.

Afterwards, the Automatic Parking Assist will effortlessly park the vehicle without any additional input from the driver.

2: SAFETY

The Superb‘s high level of safety was recognised by ANCAP with the award of five stars for exemplary safety. All Superbs come with 9 airbags as standard, this includes, driver and passenger airbags for protection in the event of a head-on collision.

Front and rear side airbags to protect the chest and pelvis of passengers in the event of side impact, a driver knee airbag, and head airbags for effective cushioning of the head.

Technologically, one of the Superb‘s most interesting active safety features is the use of adaptive Bi-Xenon headlights (as standard in the Elegance model).

These are better at illuminating bends and therefore help the driver detect hazards more quickly.

3: ADVANCED LIGHTING SYSTEM

The visibility of a vehicle plays a central role in traffic safety. In the Superb, the Adaptive Front-light System, AFS for short, ensures that you see and are seen.

In the new Superb, this intelligent Bi-Xenon headlight technology also features LED daytime running lights, significantly increasing the visibility of the vehicle. Bi-Xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights come as standard in the Elegance model.

4: SIMPLY CLEVER TwinDoor

TwinDoor represents the practical side of the Superb Sedan.

It lets you open just the boot lid, or lift the entire tailgate including the rear window.

This provides unlimited access to the luggage compartment and easy handling of bulky items.

5: SPACE ENOUGH TO SHARE

The ŠKODA Superb impresses with a whole new dimension of space and comfort. The vehicle features 157mm of rear knee-room – exceptional for a car of its size.

The Superb offers many features to make a long trip even more comfortable. The list ranges from heated front and rear seats, to the 6.5” touch screen Sat Nav with Bluetooth® audio and phone streaming (both as standard in the Elegance model).

6: SIMPLY CLEVER

The Superb stands out from the rest with ŠKODA’s trademark practical solutions almost everywhere you look.

A unique novelty on all Superb models is the umbrella, located on the rear passenger door.

This ingenious compartment complete with the Superb umbrella is designed so that the water from the wet umbrella flows away from the car and means whatever the weather, you are prepared.

Exterior Design for Off-Road Temptations

The Outdoor version of the Superb has a rugged feel - the over-sized front bumper and black-painted body parts leave no one in any doubt that it is an off-road car.

BETTER VISIBILITY AND ILLUMINATION AS A DESIGN ELEMENT

The Superb features Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights and LED indicator lights (as standard in the Elegance model).

In the rear, the C-shaped lighting contour that is characteristic of ŠKODA is made of three LED light strips.

COMMANDING FRONT PROFILE

The car’s modern appearance exudes calm and natural authority. The front end’s horizontal lines emphasise this and come across as being very clear and clean.

The centre of the front end is dominated by the broad and upright radiator grille, surrounded by a chrome frame and 21 vertical slats that are typical of the brand.

EXTERIOR OVERVIEW

ŠKODA‘s designers have given the vehicle a complete facelift, sharpening its lines and rejuvenating it with numerous elements from ŠKODA’s new design language – a striking appearance, precise lines, clean edges and perfect proportions.

STRIKING AND ELEGANT SIDE VIEW

A long drawn out roofline gives the Superb a touch of dynamic elegance. The saloon’s window line gently slopes downward from the A-pillars across the wide C-pillars and transitions into the tailgate, finishing at the rear end.

SUPERB WITH REFRESHED REAR END

The rear end is clear, clean and precise. The C-shape of the rear taillights shines even brighter than before thanks to the LED technology. Two cubist triangles on the boot lid are additional unmistakable elements of the contemporary ŠKODA design.

SPACE OVERVIEW

The ŠKODA Superb is a truly comfortable full size car, perfect for families or business use. Interior space is extremely generous and offers roominess normally only available in luxury vehicles.

REAR LEG ROOM

An impressive 157mm of rear knee-room means passengers travel in true comfort. One small but important detail showing how spacious the vehicle is – the rear floor mats are just as long as the ones in the front.

Superb Comfort

RAIN SENSOR CONTROLLED WINDSCREEN WIPERS

The automatic windscreen wipers use a rain sensor in the base of the rear view mirror to automatically activate the wipers when needed, as well as adjusting their speed.

HEATED SEATS

In the cooler months, enjoy that warm and toasty feeling with heated seats in both the front and rear. This luxury feature comes as standard in the Elegance model.

KESSY - ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY, INCLUDING SMART START

Open or close the door, start or stop the engine, all without using a single key. The driver just pulls the door handle (or pushes the boot button) and the vehicle will unlock automatically. Starting the car is done with the push of a button, located to the right of the steering column. This feature is included in the Driver Pack.

AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST

With the press of a button, Automatic Parking Assist is able to find a large enough gap between parked cars (the length of the car plus 60cm), then maneuver into the space with almost no additional assistance from the driver.

It’s a completely ‘hands off’ experience - the car’s electronics find the correct angle and turn the steering wheel, while the driver adjusts the speed using the pedals. With front and rear sensors this feature comes as standard in the Elegance model.

BLUETOOTH® HANDS-FREE

The handsfree uses wireless Bluetooth® technology to provide comfortable and safe telephone use while driving.

The Bluetooth® technology unit also enables audio streaming and can maintain two simultaneous Bluetooth® technology wireless connections, so you can use your mobile phone and play music from external Bluetooth® technology audio device at the same time.

BOLERO RADIO

The Bolero music system features radio and CD playback from an integrated CD changer for six CDs and a connection option for an external audio device, such as an MP3 player. Data is displayed on a 6.5-inch colour display. There is also an interface for SD cards.

PREMIUM 10-SPEAKER SOUND SYSTEM

The powerful ŠKODA Sound System uses 10 speakers (as standard in the Elegance model). To achieve perfect sound, an external amplifier with sound processor is installed. The system also offers a wide range of settings thanks to a digital equalizer.

MOBILE DEVICE INTERFACE (MDI)

MDI allows you to easily play music from an external device (MP3 player, cell phone, etc.) in your car. The connected device is conveniently controlled via built-in ŠKODA radio or navigation system.

CLIMATRONIC DUAL-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL

The electronically controlled Climatronic climate control lets you enjoy the comfort of an automatically maintained temperature in the car.

With two zones, the Climatronic allows the driver and passenger to set their own temperatures; this feature comes as standard across the range.

COLUMBUS MULTIMEDIA NAVIGATION

Columbus satellite navigation (as standard in the Elegance model) with integrated audio, including Bluetooth® and audio streaming, USB, AUX and SD card slot, is controlled via a 6.5” colour LCD touchscreen (resolution 800x480 pixels).

Music in MP3 or WMA formats can be stored on the 30GB hard drive, with 10GB of space dedicated for navigation data.

Superb Technology

The ŠKODA Superb comes equipped with various technological features providing comfort, safety and ease of day-to-day driving.

AFS (AUTOMATIC FRONTLIGHT SYSTEM)

AFS for Bi-Xenon headlights (as standard in the Elegance model) provide optimum illumination of the road and surroundings depending on the driving and weather conditions.

The clever headlight system adapts the lighting to different driving situations, varying the headlight angle dynamically.

START-STOP SYSTEM

Start-Stop, included in 125TDI models, allows the engine to automatically switch off when idle and immediately switch back on as soon as the brake is released - another great energy saving technology. Stop-Start can be deactivated when required.

BRAKE ENERGY RECUPERATION

Brake Energy Recuperation turns kinetic energy back into usable electricity. During engine braking, the alternator supplies the electricity to appliances and charges the battery. This saves fuel, which would be otherwise used on these tasks.

When the car is accelerating or driving steadily, the car uses the electricity stored in the battery – therefore the alternator works at a lighter load in this mode. The fuel supply is adjusted to the lower power use, which results in lower fuel consumption.

Engines

The ŠKODA Superb comes in 2 turbocharged engine options for petrol or diesel, both with DSG transmission. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures shown below are combined figures as per ADR 81/02.

Images are for illustrative purposes and include overseas models that may include features that are not available in Australia. Colours for exterior and/or upholstery may appear different on screen. Please contact your ŠKODA dealer for further information on colours, price and availability.

Superb Safety

The ŠKODA Superb is about safety without compromise, as such it was awarded five stars by ANCAP for its exemplary safety features.

FATIGUE DETECTION

Fatigue detection (included in the Driver Pack) warns drivers of impending fatigue. The system analyses the steering behaviour to evaluate the driver’s concentration.

If it detects a change in normal driving behaviour, it concludes that the driver’s concentration is decreasing and displays an audio and visual warning with the following words: ‘Driver alert. Take a break!’.

9 AIRBAGS

The Superb's rigid body is fitted with 9 airbags, so the passengers can rely on the complex protection provided.

These include, front airbags, front side airbags, rear side airbags, curtain airbags and an air bag for the driver’s knee.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (INCLUDING HILL HOLD CONTROL)

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) helps every driver handle critical situations by detecting and reducing loss of traction (skidding).

The stability program uses the capabilities of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and other special sensors to prevent slipping or locking the wheels.

The principle of its function is limiting the engine torque; and braking the inner rear wheel in case of understeer, or outer front wheel in case of oversteer.

ESC provides significant help to the driver, but it still can’t overcome the laws of nature. The ESC will help the driver if the limits of grip are not exceeded on the wheels used to stabilise the vehicle.

OTHER SAFETY FEATURES

In addition the following features come as standard across the range:

  • On a road with different surfaces on each side, for example dry tarmac on one side and loose gravel on the other, you will appreciate the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) differential lock. If the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) detects that one wheel is slipping, it applies the brake pressure to match its speed to the second non-slipping wheel. This also directs the torque to the wheel with better traction, which is able to transfer more power. The EDL advantages are most obvious during acceleration or driving up the hill with low traction under one of the wheels.
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) keeps the wheels from locking during emergency braking or when braking on slippery surfaces.
  • The Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) ensures smooth starting and acceleration without the wheels spinning on slippery surfaces.
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPM) keeps the driver informed of tyre pressure at all times. TPM is included as standard in the Elegance model.
  • Hill-hold control assist helps drivers start uphill safely. The system activates itself on inclines of five percent or more and ensures easy and safe uphill starting without the use of the hand brake. The system keeps the car from rolling backwards or stalling.

Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and dynamic angle control

Bi-Xenon headlights with Adaptive Front-light System (AFS) use projector modules with a xenon discharge tube for both low and high-beam headlights.

The beams swivel into turns creating great visibility; the swivelling mechanism is controlled electronically to illuminate the corner. Headlights swivel into the corner at an angle of up to 15° (inner), or 7.5° (outer) from their straight-ahead position.

The LED module of the daytime running lights (forming a strip on the bottom edge of the headlamp) not only has a longer life and lower power consumption, but also creates an elegant crystalline-design shape at the front of the car.

Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and dynamic angle control are standard in the Elegance model.
